Please keep any kind of political opinions to yourself . You are a great author and cannot wait to read "Dance of Dragons". But when you start rambling on and on about your political viewpoints and put down those around us who are trying to keep us safe well ut leaves a bad taste in my mouth among others.Just write good books and let proper agencies take care of the world problems O.K.?

Please keep my political opinions to myself???
You know, when I put some political posts on my Update page and some Bushies wrote to complain, I had to concede that they had a point, kinda, sorta, even if it was my website. The page was Update, after all. So I created Not A Blog, where I can say anything I want... and you still have the nerve to come in here and tell me to keep my opinions to myself??
Why don't you go back to hiding under your bed and stop reading my journal. I'm sure the "proper agencies" would like that.
And you can stop reading my books while you're at it. I don't need readers who see me as some sort of trained monkey whose sole purpose in life is providing them with entertainment.

No, sorry, it's not done yet.
There's good news and bad news on A DANCE WITH DRAGONS.
The bad news is that I have not gotten nearly as much work done these past few months as I had hoped to back in July. The summer and fall have both been insanely busy. Several of my publishers wanted me to add the San Diego Comicon to my schedule, so I did. All on my own, I also attended Bubonicon in Albuquerque and the World Science Fiction Convention in Anaheim, where A FEAST FOR CROWS lost the Hugo. More recently, I've been on the road again, doing a series of readings and signings in the midwest to promote my new YA book THE ICE DRAGON and the paperback release of A FEAST FOR CROWS. That was followed by a visit to New York, where I met with Bantam about the forthcoming WORLD OF ICE AND FIRE, with Tor about THE ICE DRAGON and the WILD CARDS revival, with Marvel about the new hardcover editions of THE HEDGE KNIGHT, and with DC Comics and Random House / Del Rey about... well, that would be telling. I also put on a tux and went to the American Museum of Natural History for the second annual Quill Awards, where Parris and I dined beneath a giant blue whale and A FEAST FOR CROWS lost a Quill.
All of which was great, but left me little or no time for writing. I know, there are lots of writers who write every day, no matter where they are or what they are doing. Alas, I am not one of them. My efforts to write in hotel rooms and on airplanes have never produced much. I need to be here at my desk, on my own computer, with all my reference materials around me, and ideally I need to be left undisturbed for a good chunk of time if I'm to have any hope of getting real work done. That hasn't been easily accomplished of late.
The good news, however, is that my travels are over for the rest of the year. There are no more conventions, readings, or promotional tours on my schedule until 2007, so for the next six weeks it will be just me and my PC. I am still hoping to be able to complete A DANCE WITH DRAGONS by the end of the year... although that will depend in large part on how well and how quickly the writing goes from here. Home
Wish me luck. I'm headed back to Westeros.
Look for another update in early January.

Fast 1200 Seiten.
Hier mehr zur neuen Bild am Sonntag Fantasy Bibliothek mit GRRM's DIE HERREN VON WINTERFELL.
And to appease all those who come to my site mainly for updates about A DANCE WITH DRAGONS... sorry, guys, you're not going to like this news any more than I do, but the last month has been a washout as far as writing is concerned. My home renovations have been very distracting, all sorts of other things have been breaking or demanding my attention, there were tax records to prepare for my accountant (I had to take an extension last April), and it seems as if every day has been full of crises and interruptions. I do hope the worst is behind me, however, and that I can plunge back into the book when I get back from LA. I need to make certain that September is a more productive month than August.
Ice and Fire World Book Announced
Well, as the latest issue of Locus has announced this, it seems official. George R. R. Martin and Bantam have concluded a deal to publish a world book for A Song of Ice and Fire, which will provide a great amount of deal about the setting featured in A Game of Thrones, A Clash of Kings, A Storm of Swords, and A Feast for Crows. It’ll be copiously illustrated by some of the best artists in the industry and by some of the fan favorites.
Oh, and George’ll have a couple of co-authors on this endeavor, by the name of Elio M. García, Jr. and Linda Antonsson.
More details—many, many more details, we expect, when we can get them to you.

http://asoiaf.westeros.org/index.php?showtopic=5960
Actually, some info about the new D&E novella came to light at the BwB meet in London over the weekend. GRRM's other half, Parris, reported that GRRM is about 75% done on the third novella. GRRM is proceeding full-steam ahead with ADWD for now, but hopes to get back to it in the autumn. I would imagine it being published next year.
The Legends anthology series by Robert Silverberg has been discontinued, apparently due to poor sales of Legends II. GRRM offered to take it over, but the publishers weren't keen. From the sound of it, GRRM is now pondering creating his own anthology to put Dunk & Egg III in, as well as stories from both new and established authors. He thinks Legends I helped boost sales of ASoIF tremendously, so is keen to help do the same for other, lesser known authors' careers.
